Yarn Yarn and More YARN

Saturday, March 15, 2008

Well, I'm back from Vacation. We had a wonderful time. My husband and I drove from Cedar Rapids IA to Athens GA. What a great trip!! I'm sorry to see it end.
I got some crocheting done while I was a way. I made some hats and baby booties. I also finished a burial gown in pink. It turned out quite nice.

I used the pattern off of Bev's Cottage website. http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/bevs-preemie-gown.html
I connected yarn back on to the area for the sleeves and sc around to make the sleeves longer. Next time I will use a hdc stitch instead. I think it will match the design better, and they wouldn't be so stiff.

Well, got to the studio today to get a message from a good friend Denise Layman. Lynn Markman and her were chatting on Denise's BlogTalkRadio
It was a great show. Stop by and take a listen. She is on Sundays in the afternoons.

Ok, I'm back up and running. I have a new goal for 2008. I want to make at least 200 items before the end of the year. I'm sitting at about 70 pieces so far. 45 of the items are Teddy Bears. I just love this pattern. http://www.personal.psu.edu/gqm4/patterns/bear.html
You have to check it out. It's the quickest and easiest pattern. And very addictive.
I have also been crocheting hats and booties. I also like to loom-knit them as well.
A great place to check out for looming ideas and looms is http://www.markmanfarm.com/ .

New Knit stitch

This is the new Knit stitch. You bring the yarn above the other stitch instead of below it like the purl stitch.

Purl Stitch

Watch this video to learn how to Purl in looming.

Ok, I haven't posted in a while. I have been pretty buzy. I have finished 5 afghans from squares from "Squares 4 Preemies" from The "Preemie Project.
I have also finished my 10 baby sets: 10 hats, 10 blankets (18x18) and 10 pairs of baby booties.

I have also been working on some how to Videos. There is a purl stitch, k2tog, and the new knit stitch video.

Well, I'm going to try this again. I had a blog for a while but didn't like how it was coming out. So I thought I would start a new one.
A little about myself: I love to crochet and loom knit. Most of items that I make go to charity. You may ask which charities. The Preemie Project, Teeny Tiny Treasures, and Crafting for a Cause.
I put together the squares for baby blankets for The Preemie Project. I make burial gowns for the TTT along with hats, booties and blankets. (when time permits)
Either way it keeps me busy
